Chesapeake Academy is pleased to offer - Camping With the Stars! a series of three MUSICAL THEATRE summer workshops. The camps are offered to Chesapeake Academy and other local community students through the Chesapeake Academy's Summer Camp Program. Renaissance Drama Instructor, Beverly Hill van Joolen, and Renaissance Program Coordinator, Beth Wegner, are pleased to announce this year's theatre camp directors, Jamie Miller and CA alumni, Ron Giddings. Ms. Miller and Mr. Giddings are both talented actors and musicians, in addition to being professional teachers. Ms. Miller has a degree in theatre with a Masters Degree in elementary education (K-8). Mr. Giddings has a degree in theatre and is pursuing a Masters in Arts Administration. He is an accomplished pianist, and is currently Artistic Director for Colonial Players and president of Standing O productions, an up and coming theatre company.
Camping With the Stars! students will be offered the opportunity to learn basic stagecraft and further develop skills they may have acquired in Renaissance Drama or other theatre programs. In addition, they will have the opportunity to challenge their public speaking and performance skills using original scripts, music, dance, and fun theatre exercises and games. Each session will present an invited showcase performance on the last day of the class.
Camping With the Stars! is open to the community. Class size is limited to 20 students in order to offer a quality experience for each child. Students are asked to bring a sack lunch and snacks daily. All class supplies are provided. Before and after care is available. Students must be signed in and out of class each day. *Early Bird registration ends on April 15th, registration after this time is $450, $225, & $225.
